A BLACK terrier who went missing in the Tavistock area four months ago has still not been found.

More than 200 posters were put up, a special banner made and a reward offered but as yet there has been no sight of Denzil, the Patterdale terrier.

Owner Linda Downing said she was 'amazed' how many strangers came up to her concerned about her missing dog after a couple of articles in the Times.

'People have been desperately trying to help us,' she said. 'They have been so kind. We realise we are looking for a miracle now but you do hear of dogs that turn up months or even years after they went missing.'

Denzil disappeared while Linda and her husband Mike were working in woodlands in the Denham Bridge area on May 18.

'I didn't know a dog could mean so much to a person,' she said. 'We are absolutely shattered.'

Linda thinks that the dog has either been stolen or became trapped down a badger hole.
