CHURCHGOERS in the villages of West Dartmoor will be taking to the moor on foot this Easter as part of their Good Friday services.
Everyone is welcome to join the walks planned from one church to the next on Friday, March 29.
Each starts with a short service and will merge for the ?nal leg on Sheepstor. Families and dog walkers are especially invited.
Each of the seven churches across West Dartmoor Mission Community is involved in the day, with options to walk a short distance or the whole route. Alternatively, there is the option to not walk and instead enjoy a service especially for children at Sampford Spiney.
All the churches will be linked by a series of short re?ections and prayers based upon the 'Stations of the Cross,' a story in 12 parts which shares the journey taken by Jesus from his sentencing, to death on the cross.
The Rev Nick Shutt, team rector of West Dartmoor Mission Community, said: 'Life is a journey full of highs and lows. Many people ?nd that getting out for a walk on the moor helps them gain perspective.
'On Good Friday this year we will be remembering the long walk Jesus took on his way to the cross, and seeking fresh inspiration and direction in our lives.'
