A West Devon woman has recently completed the third Iceland Moonwalk in aid of the charity 'Walk the Walk' — a grant-giving charity, supporting patients with cancer through research, support and care.

Stella Pennell, 61 and a circuit coach at Curves in Tavistock, walked 26.2 miles around Lake Myvatn (Midge Lake) in six and a half hours — 40 minutes faster than her time for the London Moonwalk last year.

Ninety walkers took part in the walk, including five men, in temperatures of between three degrees and minus three degrees, and starting at midnight.

A relaxing dip in the local hot springs was their reward upon finishing.

Stella trained by combining working out at Curves, and walking around the local area.

A total of £861 has so far been raised for the charity by club members, friends, family and neighbours.

All staff and members at Curves were extremely proud of Stella's achievement.
