Duchy Premier St Minver 1 Gunnislake 3 THIS third consecutive league win to make it five in seven 2006 fixtures sees Gunnislake continue their climb to mid-table safety. Against the run of play Gunnislake took a 10th minute lead. Tom Hall was fouled and from 20 yards out Stuart Wakenshaw got his effort on target. The Saints? keeper could only parry and although he blocked Mark Warwick?s follow up effort the ball fell invitingly for Hall to head into an unguarded goal. Shortly after, the game was held up for over five minutes when referee Peter Sowden was smashed in the face by a powerful Ken Ord clearance. A bloodied nose and a black eye followed but to his credit the referee completed the game. Midway through the half Wakenshaw was fouled wide on the left. Matt Avery delivered an inviting inswinging free kick that Hall headed home. Out of nothing Saints halved the arrears on 60 minutes when a good centre was headed home. The hosts then pressed hard for some 10 minutes for an equaliser before Gunnislake regained their two goal advantage. Wakenshaw found the target with a freekick and, as with the first goal, whilst the keeper saved this effort he failed to clear the danger and the on hand Jarryd Kelly poached a goal. Saints pushed throughout the remainder of the match for an equaliser but Gunnislake comfortably kept them at bay. On their travels again this Saturday, Gunnislake visit St Mawgan for a league fixture where kick off is at 2pm.
