A BED and breakfast in Tavistock has been awarded four stars for its attention to guest comfort by a national tourism company. April Cottage, on Mount Tavy Road, is the only B&B in Tavistock to be presented with the prestigious award after judges from the VisitBritain National Quality Assurance Standards came to view the house anonymously earlier this year. They said the quality of April Cottage was conscientiously maintained since the last assessment and offered ?a very good attention to guest comfort?. One feature of the criteria is that the key areas of the business ? housekeeping, hospitality, bedrooms, bathrooms and breakfast ? must be of an equivalent quality to the overall rating awarded. Sandra Callaghan, owner of April Cottage, said: ?They have changed from diamonds to stars recently and it is now an even higher standard to keep up with so we are really pleased to get this. ?We are the only ones in Tavistock to get this award. We want to keep it up now.? VisitBritain brings together the experience of dedicated tourism professionals, with more than 30 years of expertise in running quality standards.
