A WEST Devon youngster is set to star in a hit musical at Plymouth's Theatre Royal performing alongside well-known stars.

Six-year-old Mathilde Ellis from Horrabridge Primary School has landed the part of orphan Molly in the musical 'Annie', when it comes to Plymouth in April. Mathilde attends Plymkids Theatre Company but this will be her first professional performance and she is busy learning her words and all the well-known songs.

Mathilde's mother Rebecca Ellis said: 'She's been going to Plymkids for just over a year. The musical takes on kids to play the orphans at each venue. She's very excited and she seems quite confident about it. I'm very proud and very nervous for her.'

Mathilde will be performing alongside stars, including Su Pollard and David McAlister when the show hits the Theatre Royal from April 25 to 30.
