'MUSIC for St Valentine's Day' can be enjoyed next Wednesday in a recital at Kelly College, Tavistock, by Alice Neary (cello) and Gretel Dowdeswell (piano).

These outstanding young musicians have worked together since 1995. they won the 1998 South East Music Scheme and Classics West Recital Scheme. Alice won the 1998 Pierre Fournier Award and made a very successful debut at the Wigmore Hall in 1999. She has given numerous performances in this country and abroad and has broadcast on Radio 3.

Gretel has won many prizes for solo and ensemble playing and gained the DipRAM. She was a founder member of the Gould Piano Trio, which has won national and international competitions and has been heard often on Radio 3.

The programme will be: Schubert's Arpeggione Sonata, Rachmaninov's Cello Sonata, Stravinsky's 'Suite Italienne' and James Macmillan's 'Kiss on Wood'.

The concert is in the Melvin Hall, Kelly College, at 7.45pm. Tickets at the door are £8 (£6 concessions) with free admission to children accompanied by an adult.

This event is arranged by Kelly College Concert Society.
