TAVISTOCK Inner Wheel Club held its annual meeting at the West Devon Club recently, at which Denise Bacon was elected as president for a second year.

Mrs Bacon said the splendid total of £900 had been raised by the club during the last year, which was to be donated to her chosen charity, the Children?s Hospice South West. Other donations had been made to the cystic fibrosis charity, Samaritans, the RNLI, Devon Air Ambulance, Sense and the British Lung Foundation, plus some overseas charities.

Where possible, Inner Wheel prefers to support local charities and with this in mind, Mrs Bacon nominated St Luke?s Hospice to be the main project for the coming year.

Members heard that plans are now under way for the Christmas Bonanza charity bazaar, which will take place on October 30. Last year?s event was particularly successful with almost 30 charities taking a table in the pannier market.
