Okehampton 26

St Ives 12

OKES collected another home win against a spirited and improving St Ives.

Despite not playing with the intensity of the Crediton match Okes always had another gear to go to.

Searle got Okes off to a good start by reacting swiftly after a penalty award, to put skipper Mugliston over in the corner.

Further pressure saw Searle kick a penalty and touch down after Mason had taken a tap penalty.

The half was completed with the improving Griffiths scoring a try after fine work by the pack.

St Ives competed well after the interval. Replacement Warner scored in the corner and Peters converted. Then hooker Perkins touched down to cause Okes a few flutters.

The issue was settled when Bickle, after a fine run, put Alford in for Okes' fourth try.

With Hodge, Mason and Alford all contributing after little or no rugby for seven weeks this result was a competent performance and no more.

Hayle in a fortnight will present a sterner challenge though Okes usually perform better in that environment.
