BY George! It's England's patron saint's day tomorrow (Friday) and the village of South Zeal will be celebrating in style.

Richard Penny, landlord of the King's Arms, South Zeal, is planning to mark St George's Day with a taste of traditional England.

The pub's very own medieval dance troop, the 'King's Brawlers' will kick proceedings off with a performance.

The dancing will be followed by a mummers play — the Ramsley Pace-Egg Play, which recounts the story of St George's brave triumphs.

The finale of the celebrations will be the singing of English folk songs, accompanied by the distinctive sounds of the hurdy-gurdy.

The evening begins at 6.30pm with the Ramsley Pace-Egg Play due to start at 7pm. To find out more call the King's Arms on 01837 840300.

l A full English will be the way to start the day tomorrow (Friday) as the Plume of Feathers in Okehampton hosts the St George's Day Breakfast, organised by Derek Godfrey-Brown.

Fresh local produce, including bacon, sausages, eggs and more, will be served up to customers as part of celebrations to mark the day. Breakfasts will be served from 8am onwards.
