A WEST Devon school has been recognised by Ofsted inspectors for its consistently high standards in education and management.
St Andrew?s Primary School at Buckland Monachorum has been classed as successful in the annual report on Standards and Quality in Education, published last week.
The school is one of 456 nationally, and 33 in the South West, to appear on the list of successful schools, which is based on outstanding Ofsted inspection reports last year.
Headteacher Bill Houldsworth said the school?s inclusion on the list was good news for staff, pupils and parents alike.
?Any school that goes through an Ofsted inspection is always very apprehensive beforehand, even if you?re confident of a successful outcome,? he said.
?We?re delighted with the report, and to have our success written down and confirmed like this is fantastic. It?s great for the staff, the parents and, of course, the pupils.?
He said the school had received particular praise for its SATS results and learning climate.
?The school is consistently in the top 100 in the country for SATS results. We?ve maintained that for four years now.
?The report has praised us for the quality of education we provide, the management and efficiency of the school, and our climate for learning.
?They?ve also mentioned the extra curricular activities we offer, the way parents and governors contribute to the running of the school and the communications we have developed with other European schools.?
Overall, a total of 3,302 primary schools were inspected in England, with almost 300 making it onto the list.
The Chief Inspector of Schools, David Bell, said: ?I believe these success stories are a testament to both the talent and dedication of the staff who work in these schools and colleges and the pupils themselves.?
