IF IT'S true that daffodils herald in the start of spring, then it's definitely springtime in south east Cornwall.

Little by little the flowering bulbs at Cotehele are erupting into colour. And for the second year in a row, it's looking like they will be in full bloom just in time for the annual daffodil weekend on Saturday and Sunday (March 23 and 24).

Cotehele's senior gardener, Aimee Kingdom is urging everyone to come along to this year's fabulous show: 'It will be a fantastic chance for garden lovers and families to see our wonderful collection of historic daffodils, including heirloom varieties which are 200 years old,' she said.

Visitors will be able to see about 250 different varieties of daffodils in total. A garden tour highlighting the different varieties of daffodils will take place on both Saturday and Sunday at 2pm. There will also be children's activities.

The daffodil festivities run from 11am to 3.30pm each day.
