ENTHUSIASTIC gardeners are reminded that the Bere Ferrers Spring Flower Show will be held on Saturday, March 29. The show this year marks three anniversaries: the 750th anniversary of the parish of Bere Ferrers, the centenary of the opening of the railway line from Bere Alston, and the diamond jubilee year of the show itself. Special classes have been included to reflect the anniversaries, as well as the usual 30 classes of daffodils, various spring flowers, rhubarb, leek and parsley and domestic sections. The decorative classes include some anniversary flower arrangements and one of the photographic classes has the theme of the railway centenary. There are a number of classes for younger competitors, including a railway station garden in a seed tray and a 60th anniversary card or model of a church. Schedules with entry forms can be obtained from Margaret Willmott's shop or the Post Office in Bere Ferrers. Contact the show secretaries on 01822 840191 or 840288 for more details. The show will be open for visitors from 1.30pm on the day.
