CRAFTY businesses in the Hatherleigh area are being encouraged to get involved in a special day event taking place next month, to promote local firms.

As part of this year?s Hatherleigh Craft Fair, the Hatherleigh Area Project are holding a Local Business Promotion Day.

Leonora Adams, community agent for the Hatherleigh Area Project, said: ?It is difficult for people to get to know what businesses are tucked away in their own town, and advertising is difficult for small businesses.

?Hatherleigh Area Project are putting on the Local Business Promotion so people can find out what is available.?

A spokesperson for Hatherleigh Hampers, a new business which sells food hampers, said of the event: ?It is a great idea ? hopefully it will help to regenerate the commercial aspects of the Hatherleigh area.?

It is hoped enough interest will be generated from businesses in Hatherleigh and surrounding villages to start up a business forum, which could bring businesses together for support, promotion and maybe to develop a local business directory.

The promotion day is for any local business that would like to either display their details or sell products at the fair.

The fair takes place on Saturday, October 4, at 2pm in the Market Hall in Hatherleigh.

The Craft Fair is in aid of the Hatherleigh Carnival, which is this year celebrating its centenary.

If any businesses are interested in having a presence at the day, they are asked to contact the Hatherleigh Area Project office on 01837 810239.
