CLIMBING, archery, gymnastics, trampolining, Scuba diving, cricket, roller disco, football coaching, water sports, canoeing, kayaking, surfing are just some of the activities that Callington Sport and Leisure, based at Callington Community College, have available for children during the summer school holidays. Alan Yendell, community sports manager, told the Times: ?The programme runs from Monday, July 30 to Friday, August 31, and is open to boys and girls aged from five to 19. The programme aims to provide a safe and quality range of sport activities for children to enjoy during their summer holidays. ?It also provides a wonderful opportunity for working parents, who don?t have to worry about childcare arrangements and have peace of mind that their children are taking part in physical activity with qualified coaches and instructors.? There are also special rugby and football courses being run. Premiership Bath rugby club are running an academy camp between August 7 and August 9 for boys and girls aged 13 to 19. East Cornwall Football Development Centre are running two day soccer schools. The first runs on Wednesday, August 1 and Thursday, August 2, and the second on Wednesday, August 22 and Thursday, August 23. Both soccer schools are for boys and girls of all abilities aged between 5 -14 years. Alan said: ?There is also a unique opportunity for children who are bored during the summer to take part in a football project that has been put together by the police and Callington Community College. The Kick Off project allows children from the ages 12 to 17 to come along and join in some street soccer fun. ?The aim is to make the programme accessible, so that children feel they have somewhere to go to release their energy rather than wandering around the town streets. Sessions run every Friday evening starting July 27 from 7pm-8.30pm at Callington Community College and cost just £1. ?There are also some fun family sessions being run this summer. The first is a family fun roller disco on Thursday, August 16, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm, with admission at £3 and skate hire at £1 ? this is a great way to enjoy a family evening. There is also a special indoor go karting event on Tuesday, August 14, starting at 2pm and finishing at 4pm for boys and girls aged from 7 to 11.?
