BRAVING the rain, a number of Tavistock residents took part in a sponsored walk, which raised £900 for Macmillan Cancer Support. 

The walk covered 10.8 miles, beginning at Meldon Reservoir, stopping at The Fox and Hounds pub at Lydford for lunch and then walking back across the moors. 

The age range of the walkers spanned from six-years-old to 69-years-old.

Sarah Howell, a Macmillan treasurer who took part in the walk, said: ‘Since the closure of the Macmillan shop in Paddons Row at the end of last year, I am keen to keep the local committee going and continue to fundraise in other ways. 

‘Later in the year we will be hosting a 24 hour ping-pong-athon.
