THE first fundraising event for the recently formed Kelly Bray Residents' Association has been a great success with around 200 people entering the Hallowe'en spirit on Sunday evening.
Organised to bring people of the village together, the event at the Swingletree pub also raised £255 through a raffle with prizes all donated by local businesses.
The money will be put towards refurbishing the WI Hall in Kelly Bray, which the group hopes to make a resource for the whole community.
Chairman of the residents' association Gerald Pridham said he was really pleased with the turnout to the Hallowe'en party, which included a hog roast and disco.
'I think it has shown us that there is a community spirit in Kelly Bray and we are so grateful to the landlady of the Swingletree, Dee Wicket, for allowing us to hold this event.'
The next meeting of the residents' association will be on November 17 in the WI Hall at 7pm.
