Newton Abbot U15s 35

Tavistock RFC U15s 7

TAVISTOCK up against a significantly larger team put in a fighting performance against a well organised Newton Abbot side.

An early breakaway try by Callum McCormick, converted by Ed Longden demonstrated the potential within the Tavistock side.  Newton Abbot quickly fought back however with two tries and a penalty following ill-discipline by the visiting pack within their own 22.

Against a testing wind Tavistock went in at half-time at a creditable 7-13, confident at using the prevailing conditions to their advantage in the second half.

Newton Abbot's strength in depth was demonstrated with the inclusion of more power to their forward line which physically Tavistock could not match, despite their efforts.  Ross Malton at scrum half for Tavistock was distributing the ball well from the scrum and Sam Jessop, together with Eli Crowther, epitomised the tackling spirit within the side but were unable to contain Newton Abbot's attacking backs who ran in four further tries and a conversion, without reply.

Tavistock's player of the match was the captain Ali Dawe.
