Bridestowe XI v President?s XI
THE annual President?s match started with the home side electing to bat against the invited visitors.
Jeremy Cole (Werrington) bowled well, taking the first three wickets, ending his spell on 3 for 28.
Phil Hatton and Ben Griffiths held the middle order together until Hatton was deceived by a well flighted delivery from veteran spin bowler John Leonard, gifting an easy stumping for Adrian Spence (Hatherleigh).
Bridestowe declared at tea with the score standing at 198 for 9.
The President?s XI lost an early wicket but Barry Down and Martin Fryer steadied the situation. Another wicket, M Jenkins (Milton Abbott) brought John Perry (Launceston) and Spence together for a 50-run partnership followed by Leonard and Graham Down (St Albans, Cardiff).
At the close of play the President?s men were 161 for 9, resulting in an honourable draw.
President Bill Down expressed thanks to both teams and to the ladies for the afternoon?s tea. He welcomed the vice-president and sponsors and hoped they enjoyed the day, thanking them for their support for the club.
