Callington 52 DHSOB Thirds 3 DESPITE the weather the game got under way at Duchy College and from the start the home side dominated play. Callington posted an early try from tight-head prop Jon Spencer who made a break down on the left side of the pitch, which was successfully converted by Wayne Wormald. A later penalty by DHSOBs put points on the board for them, but it only served to fuel Callington's desire to win as they then scored four more tries in the first half — a second by Jon Spencer, then one each to Derek Ingleson, Phil Ingleson and Neil Williams. Only two of these were converted by full- back Wayne Wormald, who also scored a penalty half way through the first half. This gave a half time score of 31-3 to the home side. In the second half Callington stepped up a gear as DHSOBs piled on the pressure in the scrums and line-outs. But the home team were able to hold on to control of the game as some fresh legs in the shape of James North and Matt Longman amongst others were brought on throughout the second half. In so doing they were able to score three more tries, one each to scrum-half James North, fly-half Gareth Waymouth and a second from Derek Ingleson. All three of these were successfully converted to make Callington the runaway winners.
