THIS coming Sunday (October 31) is a special day for All Saints Parish Church in Okehampton.
As the nearest Sunday to All Saints Day, the church will celebrate its ?patron? saint in the morning service at 11am.
All Saints is quite a common designation and so the church shares its patronal festival with many other churches throughout the world.
The day following All Saints Day is All Souls Day, or ?The Commemoration of the Faithful Departed?, so on Sunday at 6pm there will be a special service at which those who have died are remembered. The names of all those whose funerals have taken place at the parish church over the last year will be read out, but if you would like the names of your own loved ones remembered, whether they have died recently or longer ago, then please add them to a list that is being compiled. There will be a pad of paper available to do this at the back of St James? Church in Fore Street. Everyone is welcome to attend this simple service of remembrance.
