FRIENDS of Okehampton Community Hospital have made their latest donation of equipment to the hospital — a special automatic chair to help stroke patients.
The chair cost around £1,800 and was recently donated to the hospital along with a £4,000 defibrillator.
Chairman John Marvin said that during the past 12 month, the friends had donated equipment totalling more than £8,500 to the hospital, including medicine cabinets, electric couches, games for the occupational therapy department as well as providing Christmas trees, decorations and gifts.
Mr Marvin said: 'We are currently in the process of purchasing three x-ray screen boxes for the clinical consulting rooms at a cost of £1,200.
The Friends of Okehampton Hospital aim to raise money for medical equipment and other materials to ensure patients enjoy the maximum care and comfort possible during their stay in hospital.
Mr Marvin said: 'We could not achieve such a high level of support without the generosity and help of the townspeople of Okehampton and the surrounding villages and we cannot thank them enough.'
