MORETONAMPSTEAD'S playing field will benefit from a firework night bonanza at the King George V Sports and Community Centre.

The event takes place on Saturday (November 1) to raise money for the town's Playing Fields Trust.

Hannah Austin from the sports centre said: 'We are delighted to be hosting Moretonhampstead's Annual Fireworks night again and it will be a spectacular evening for all the family.'

Firework company 'Skyburst' will be choreographing the display. There will be a variety of refreshments – including hot food and hot drinks – and the centre's licensed bar will be open.

Hannah said: 'One big advantage of holding the fireworks display at the centre is that we can offer 'indoor facilities' so that people can enjoy the comfort of indoors as well as outside – whatever the weather! This is also a great benefit for those with young children or those with limited mobility.'

The display brings together people from all over the area, not just Moretonhampstead. It is also a celebration of what the village and its residents can achieve, as the evening is run entirely by volunteers for the benefit of the community.

Organisers are keen for people to add to the bonfire by bringing old furniture and scrap wood. Call 01647 440107 to make arrangements.

Entry to the fireworks night is £5 for adults, £2.50 for children 13 years and under, tickets on the gate.

Gates open at 6.30pm, the bonfire at 7pm and fireworks start 7.30pm.

Parking is limited, but the centre is only five minutes walk from the town centre and its car parks.
