MORE than £2,000 was raised for charity at Kelly College Prep School's May Ball, held at Tavistock Town Hall earlier this month.

The 'diamond' themed event, in honour of the Jubilee, inspired some stunning sparkly table dressing by Lulo's Gifts and culminated in the raffle of a 0.25 carat diamond generously donated by jeweller and gemmologist Nigel R Campbell.

More than 100 guests were entertained by Andy Nichol a sleight of hand specialist, sponsored by Abbey Mead Dental Practice, and music was provided by The Co-operative Swing Band Shot in the Dark Disco sponsored by Davis Endodontics.

Catering was by Taylor's Restaurant. There was a lively auction and raffle, with some great local sponsors including The Tavistock Old Railway Cottages, Nuffield Health, Tavistock Trout Fishery, The Drewe Arms and local artists Laure Bury and Fiona Waddy.

A three night stay at the Old Tavistock Railway Station Cottages was won by a Mr Hicks, and raised £500 alone.

Proceeds from the event are being donated to CHICKS and the school's parent teacher association.
