Southgate Utd Colts U15s 2 Tavistock Town U15s 2 TAVISTOCK had to change the team around due to missing and ill players but they started strong. Within the first few moments Doyle had a shot deflected for a corner and Court?s shot from the corner went just over the bar. Tavistock did score when Doyle and Bray combined but the goal was disallowed for offside. Southgate came back at Tavistock then and there were some dangerous moments but one of their attacks was intercepted by Hammond who passed down the line to Lyle. He crossed to Doyle who blasted the ball into the top left corner of the net. The midfield of McCall, Smallwood and Lyle were in total control in the first half and it was from a McCall pass that Doyle again had a shot deflected for a corner. There were three shots at goal resulting from that corner, all of them blocked by defenders until it was finally cleared by Southgate. Tavistock kept attacking, Bray narrowly missing, but Southgate had a breakaway, which, although Webber was there to gather the ball, the Southgate forward followed through and, unseen by the referee, appeared to kick the Tavistock keeper. Derbyshire was booked for dissent when he pointed this out to the official, but this didn?t stop the Tavistock advance and Lyle made it 2-0 when the Southgate keeper and one of his defenders clashed going for the same ball. The second half was more difficult. Southgate came back hard and were rewarded with a quick goal to make the score 2-1 Tavistock. They kept attacking and Webber had to make a one-on-one save but the pressure was too much and Southgate did equalise. Man of the match: Euan McCall. Manager?s man of the match: Tom Hammond.
