PARISHIONERS of South Tawton polished up their pavements and spruced up their street signs with a Clean for the Queen on May 14.
Villagers came armed with rubber gloves, buckets and cleaning utensils for the event, which was run in co-ordination with South Tawton Parish Council and 1st South Zeal?Scouts to mark the Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations. Clean for The Queen is a campaign launched by Country Life magazine in partnership with Keep Britain Tidy to clear up Britain in time for The Queen’s 90th birthday in 2016.
Armies of volunteers across the country have rallied together to clean up their local areas. With the full backing of Keep Britain Tidy, the campaign already has the support of well-known national organisations with a total membership in excess of 1.5-million, as well as individual ambassadors.
