A SUMMER solstice walk to raise money for charity is due to take place between Moretonhampstead and Moortown, near Tavistock, this
weekend.
The family walk is open to all and is being organised by Will Crosby, Julie Peake and Mike Gray who have all suffered sad losses this year. Participants can choose to walk distances of 20 miles, 13 miles, 11 miles, six miles, two miles or one mile. The longest route will leave the White Hart Inn at Moretonhampstead at noon on Saturday June 18, The Warren Inn at 3pm, Postbridge at 4pm, Two Bridges at 5pm, the Dartmoor Inn at Merrivale at 7pm and Cox Tor car park at 7.30pm.
There will be a barbecue and music to greet the walkers at Moortown on their return.
All proceeds from the walk will be donated to Cancer Research UK and the British Heart Foundation, in memory of Harriet Crosby, who died from cancer, Bayard Peake, who died from heart disease, and Pauline Gray, Mike's mother, who died from cancer last year.
The Times apologises for the article in last week's edition, which incorrectly stated it was Mike's wife who had died from cancer.
