Tiverton 17 Tavistock 14 TAVISTOCK came away from Tiverton feeling that in addition to coming up against a good team they had been refereed out of the game by some inconsistent refereeing. Tiverton started the stronger of the two teams and were six points up in the first quarter after Tiverton fly half Steve Cockerham was successful with two penalty goals. The difference in styles became apparent with Tiverton using the kicking game and Tavistock preferring to move the ball by hand. Tavistock started the stronger in the second half and were soon in front after Tom Dawe had powered his way over for a try converted by Josh Sutton. Tiverton replied when winger Barney Bell intercepted a Tavistock pass on half way and ran in for an unconverted try. In an off the ball incident soon after Tiverton second row Andy Clarke was sent off for punching Tavistock flanker Jude Rotten. The punch forced Jude to leave the field soon after. Fourteen man Tiverton then upped their game forcing Tavistock deep into their own half and then stretched their lead with a further two penalty goals. With time running out Tavistock stormed back and were rewarded with a try from second row Andy Hunt. Unfortunately Josh Sutton?s conversion was the last kick of the game. This coming weekend Tavistock entertain Wellington in the Cornwall and Devon League. Kick off 3pm.
