BLIZZARDS left some West Devon households in the dark last Thursday when thick snow caused an overhead power cable fault. Bridestowe, Meldon and Sourton Cross were affected by the fault which left 484 homes without electricity for up to five hours.
Sharon Cross, of
Western Power Distribution, said: ?More than half the households had their supply restored within an hour. After two hours there were only 57 houses without electricity ? and they were directly connected to the faulty cable so couldn?t be switched to a different supply.
?Western Power electricians were sent to the site immediately and, despite being hampered by weather conditions, reconnected the direct supply soon after midnight.?
