ANDY Hicks, West Devon professional snooker player, is ranked provisionally 21 in the world for the coming year and has reached six semi-finals. Among these were the European, Masters, World and British Open. However, Andy (pictured right) , from Tavistock, exchanges his snooker cue for a table tennis bat when wanting to relax. At only 32 Andy married this year and his wife is expecting their first baby. In his spare time Andy goes to Okehampton Table Tennis Club in Castle Road, behind the main Post Office on a Tuesday evening. He plays a mean game of table tennis and find this a great way to unwind. The people are friendly and of mixed ages, starting from ten years to 70. It is a sport that keeps you fit and your reflexes sharp and it is also one of the only sports where most of the family can compete against each other. If you would like to see Andy in action come along on Tuesday September 20 and see him play. There is no charge for your first time and you can play just for fun or enter competitions. Individuals or all the family are welcome, and there are trained coaches to help you.
