AT Okehampton Open and Southwest Championships at the weekend there was last-minute disappointment for Paul Batten from the host club. Having led the event until the very last squad, he was pipped at the post by just one point by Greg Hamley from the Plymouth club, Stuart Road. Di Johnson came second in Class B by one point and the club?s A team also came second to Budleigh TSC by one point. This shoot is organised annually by the local club and is shot over two weekends, all entrants shoot the same course of fire ? 40 shots at 25 yards followed by 40 shots at 25 metres, with a total possible score of 800. There are prizes in five classes as well as ladies, juniors, veterans and teams. Nearly all the classes were closely contested, with only one point separating first and second places in Classes A, B and C and very close results in the ladies and veterans. Leading Okehampton scores were as follows: open championship: 2, Paul Batten, 788; ladies? open championship: 2, Di Johnson 776; open team event: 2, Okehampton A; Southwest (confined) championship: 2, Paul Batten; ladies?
