NOT only has Tavistock resident Phil Venning won four Slimming World competitions, he has gone one better and reached his weight loss target of just under six stone. Phil has won several competitions at the Yelverton Slimming World group: The Greatest Loser 2006; Mr and Mrs 2006, with his wife; Man of the Year 2006; and Little Miss Slinky 2007. But the greatest award Phil has achieved is reaching his personal target weight loss of 5st and 10lb in just over 14 months. Phil joined Slimming World with his wife as they wanted to have a second child and wanted all the energy possible for their children. Clare, who lost 3.5st, conceived just after she reached her target weight — the baby is due in two weeks. Phil said: 'Winning the competitions and getting recognised for my achievements was great, but nothing beats having a healthy, fit family. 'Joining Slimming World was the best thing I ever started. I wish more guys my age would come take the step and join us, it has changed mine and my family's life.'
