MARY Tavy's new skate ramp will be officially opened this Saturday, (September 21) when local skaters celebrate with an afternoon of live music, barbecue and a raffle.

There will also be a skateboarding, BMX and in-line skating display at the new ramp built by the playing field next to the coronation hall.

The live music will be courtesy of two bands formed by youngsters in Mary Tavy and Tavistock.

The ramp was made possible by a £5,000 grant from Awards for All. Financial help also came from Tavistock Round Table and the National Forum for the Development of Rural Youth Work and Tavistock and District Youth Network, and the many fund-raisers and youth club members.

The fun day organised by Mary Tavy Youth Club kicks off at 3pm.
