ACCORDING to Gareth Ellis-Unwin, the Academy Award winner and producer of The King’s Speech, the Chagford Film Festival is ‘the best small film festival in the world’.

Cinema lovers were in for a treat last week with six days of entertainment, both on and off the screen. On Monday an opening night with Absolutely Fabulous star, special guest Jennifer Saunders, who was there to introduce her new film and give an interview.

There was an animation day with Aardman Animations and its co-founder David Sproxton, including a workshop to make your own Gromit with an Aardman expert model-maker.

Visitors could walk up the red carpet to watch short films in the world’s smallest 100% solar-powered cinema, parked in The Square.

To add to the delight and to tempt big screen fans there were food and music themed films and events before a grand finale of ‘Las Vegas comes to Chagford’.

This was Chagford Film Festival’s sixth year and no doubt cinema lovers will be queuing around the block for next year’s blockbuster event.
