THE third event of the Okehampton Cycle Club summer time trial series took place last Thursday.
In almost perfect weather six competitors took part in a ride against the clock on the demanding 11.2 mile course from Mole Avon to Whiddon Down and back on the old A30 road.
Brian Dixon dominated proceedings, achieving the fastest time of the night and a new personal best of 29.28.
Steve Podd, debuting his new race bike, came second with 31.04, knocking more than a minute off his previous time.
Third place and a new personal best went to Mike Rice, clocking 33.00. Dave Baskerville, who tackled the course for the first time, achieved a commendable time of 42.32.

Anyone is welcome to participate on a roadworthy bicycle. The meeting place is Mole Avon car park on Thursdays ready for a 7pm start.
