A long coach journey down through Cornwall preceded Tavistock Swimming?s Club participation in the third and final round of the Cornwall and West Devon League at Penzance Leisure Centre. Also taking part were teams from St Austell and Devonport. The team was a little depleted due to injury, but swimmers still managed to achieve six first places and 14 personal best times and finished in tenth place overall. Three of the first places went to younger swimmers ? Kieran Rookes in the boys? 11/U breaststroke, Kris Chapman in the boys? 11/U butterfly and Will Carter in the boys? 11/U freestyle. Kirsty Smith and Tom Waddington gained first places in the girls? and boys? 15/U breaststroke respectively and Laura Radgick was the winner of the girls? open freestyle. ?Swimmer of the Gala? was awarded to Kirsty Smith.
