THIS Saturday, July 7, sees the fourth annual invitation six-a-side football tournament at Fillace Park, Horrabridge.
The event is organised jointly by the football club and the twinning association. This year, the number of invited teams has been increased to 28 making it one of the biggest tournaments around.
Unfortunately, this year, due to work commitments and holidays, there will be no representative team from the twin village of Tilly-sur-Seulles in Normandy.
The tournament will feature local teams from the P&D Combination league including reigning premier league champions Plympton Utd, teams from the Westward Developments Devon League, and the South Western League.
There will be food and other refreshments available and a beer tent provided by the London Inn, Horrabridge.
The prize draw will take place during the lunch break with first prize being a Toshiba Colour Television, second prize a Brittany Ferries mini cruise to Spain for two, third prize a meal and accommodation for two at the Elfordleigh Hotel, Plympton, and other minor prizes.
The tournament winners will receive the Fitzsimmons Butchers Champions Cup plus a perpetual shield with the runners-up receiving the Londis Cup.
Winners of the Supplementary Cup will receive the London Inn cup and the runners-up the Barbers Shop Cup with a sporting trophy provided by Ayres Sports of Tavistock.
Team registration will start at 9am with the first group matches due to kick off at approximately 930am.
