Two of Mount House School?s young musicians, Ruairidh Matthews and Ellie Hayward have been selected for the National Children?s Sinfonia. The two children, both aged 11, will attend a one-week course at Queenswood School, near Hatfield in Hertfordshire. Ruairidh and Ellie will join talented youngsters from all over the UK to be tutored by top professionals from conservatoires and specialist music schools. Children selected for the Sinfonia are able to work on towards selection for the National Youth Chamber Orchestra or the National Youth Wind Ensemble. Ruairidh Matthews, whose home is at Hatherleigh, will join the Wind Sinfonia. Ruairidh also won awards at the Saltash Festival, and played the Last Post at the school?s recent service of Remembrance. Ellie Hayward, who lives at Saltash, plays the violin, and will take part in the String Sinfonia. As well as being a talented violinist Ellie also excels at singing.
