TAVISTOCK Round Table recently welcomed its youngest chair for 15 years.

Simon Windsor, 33, took over from former chair Gary Pearson at the annual meeting last month, and will hold the post for the next 12 months.

Simon said: 'I'm honoured to take up the role and hope to use my youth to our advantage. People think that it's just for older men, but our Round Table is starting to attract younger members. This is not only bringing the average age down, but also helping us to do things differently.'

Tavistock Round Table meets every fortnight and holds fundraising activities and events to help raise money for local causes.

The Round Table is open to men aged 18 to 45 who want to club together and have a good time, while doing something good for the local community.

Past events which proved a success, include paintballing, sailing, gliding and camping.

Last year the Tavistock Round Table also took part in a national event, which saw them driving to Barcelona and back in cars that they had bought for a few hundred pounds. The trip 'Barcelona or Bust' involved driving over 2,300 miles for charities such as Macmillan Cancer Support.

Under Simon's leadership the Tavistock Round Table is now planning events for the year ahead, and encourages the community to come forward and join in the fun.
