OKEHAMPTON athlete Rod Stewart wowed a crowd of more than 7,000 by winning a silver medal at the 2005 British Indoor Rowing Championship ? the country?s biggest indoor sporting event. Rod (55) raced in the Men?s 55-59 lightweight category at the event at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham and finished in a time of 6 minutes 45.8 seconds to claim his second place. The event was represented by a massive cross-section of sports from runners and triathletes to boxers, weight lifters and rugby players.
