FIVE riders have successfully completed their three day silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award expedition on Dartmoor.

Alice Kodritsch, Louise Harrison and Elsa Kent from the Spooners and West Dartmoor Branch of the Pony Club were joined by Molly Allen and Lily Hunt from the Tetcott Branch for the three day venture.

Thick mist and driving rain, and tents almost beaten to the ground by the wind at the beginning tested the team’s resilience, but the weather improved over the next two days and they successfully completed in high spirits after riding almost 40 miles, laden down with saddle bags and rucksacks and camping with their horses overnight.

The team were supported by volunteers from West Devon Open Group for the DofE which meets in Kingdon Hall in Tavistock at 7pm on the first Tuesday of every month.
