A TAVISTOCK pair are seeking sponsorship for their second charity golf day in aid of Parkinson's UK.
Mark Hoar and Patrick Stewart, from Tavistock Golf Club, will be raising vital funds for the charity when they hold their second 'Golf Adventure' at Tavistock Golf Club on Friday, June 13.
Both Mark and Patrick, who have Parkinson's disease, are organising the event to raise awareness of the condition and to raise vital funds for the charity.
Patrick Stewart said: 'Every hour someone is told that they have Parkinson's disease. We raised over £7,000 with our last event, and we are looking to do the same again.
'We made donations on both a national and local basis, to fund research and to help local people who suffer from Parkinson's.'
Mark Hoar said: 'We are looking for local businesses to sponsor a hole and, with 40 teams playing and backing from Parkinson's UK, this is an ideal opportunity to raise your profile and be associated with a good cause that most people can identify with in some way.'
Pam Coxwell, from Tavistock Parkinson's Group, said: 'The money from the last golf day has provided funding for our exercise classes for at least a year.
'The support group is really important for local people with Parkinson's disease and we are grateful for Patrick and Mark's support again.'
Paul Jackson-Clark, director of fundraising at Parkinson's UK, said: 'Holding an event like this is a fantastic way to raise vital funds to support our work.
As the UK's Parkinson's support and research charity, we're leading the work to find a cure, and we're closer than ever. But our work is totally dependent on donations.
'We are incredibly grateful to Patrick and Mark for their support. I hope the event will be a huge success and will encourage others to hold their own events.'
