THERE was standing room only at a lively meeting in Tavistock Methodist Church Hall recently, when two South West members of the European Parliament led a debate on the pros and cons of the EU constitutional treaty. The case for the treaty was put by Labour MEP Glyn Ford and Graham Booth MEP spoke against it on behalf of the UK Independence Party. The meeting was sponsored by the Tamar branch of the European Movement. Speaking after the event, organiser Christopher Denne said: ?We are very pleased to have had such a good turnout. It shows that people want to find out the truth about the constitutional treaty, which is by far the most important issue we shall have to vote on in the next few years. Love it or hate it, it will affect us all.? The European Movement is a voluntary national organisation which supports Britain?s active participation in the European Union. It is supported by leading members of all the main political parties at Westminster.
