WEST Devon Borough Councillor Adam Bridgewater visited Chelfham Senior School, at Kilworthy House, Tavistock, last week to meet pupils who have performed admirably for Plymouth Argyle's disability in the community football team. The boys were presented with trophies, for their achievements, at the end of the season awards in Plymouth. They attend training twice a week improving their skills, and competed in six competitions against other similarly skilled players. Cllr Bridgewater said: 'The football in the community disability scheme encourages the players to learn teamwork, independence, and how to behave in public. The students also make friends outside the school, widening their social skills and assisting with their learning, complementing the 24-hour curriculum offered at Priory Chelfham School. The school offers young men aged between 15 and 19, with challenging social, emotional and behavioural difficulties, continued education. Cllr Bridgewater said: 'A great deal of time and commitment is put in by the students and the staff who ensure training is attended; and often put in their own time to ensure that competitions are reached on time. The boys are a real credit to Tavistock and their school.' l Clockwise from top left in photo: Josh Kyle, Andy Dickson, Cllr Adam Bridgewater, Craig Marchington, Shaun Tysoe and Ben Burnard.
