LYD Valley Riding Club held their first club show at Leawood Equestrian Centre, Bridestowe on Sunday. The club was established in 2004 to encourage local horses and pony riders to improve their skills and gain in confidence, within a fun and stress-free environment. For many, the event was their first experience of participating in a showing class, while others improved their skills and technique. A strong turn out was shown with members competing in a variety of both in-hand and ridden showing classes. Pauline Treble and her horse Bob from Tavistock gave an excellent in-hand performance to take champion, closely followed by Patsie Walker on her Arab, Shaq from Okehampton, as reserve champion. The afternoon ridden events provided opportunities for all entrants to display their horses in a variety of breed and performance classes. After nine classes the judge, Linda Wonnacott, announced junior member, Lucy Goodman riding Raven as ridden champion and Julie Lewis on Shaemus from Bridestowe, as reserve ridden champion.
