Okehampton Columbines 2

OKEHAMPTON Ladies? hockey team got off to a hesitant start, backing off the ball too much to allow Launceston to attack.

It took a good save from Okehampton goalkeeper, Sharon Shepherd, ten minutes into the game to galvanise the Columbines into action.

Alex Collins and Jane Jones the Okehampton wing halves, had strong games, driving forward the attack. But it was a solo run by Kelly Cooper, who tore through the Launceston defence to set up Viv Weatherington to score, which broke the deadlock.

Although it was a hard-fought game, Launceston never really looked like scoring in the second half.

The Columbines always looked dangerous going forward. The second goal came when the ball fell to Collins whose strike at goal was turned in by Cooper.

This week, Okehampton are at home to Plymouth University in the league.
