SHEBBEAR College 1st XV continued their unbeaten run by completing the double over local rivals Grenville College in the first round of the Devon Cup.

Despite creating several opportunities, Shebbear finished the first half just 3-0 in the lead thanks to a Chris Jenn penalty.

The second half saw them stretch their lead with another penalty from Jenn, shortly followed by a try by Stefan Duda.

rebounded off the uprights giving Shebbear an 11-point lead.

They attacked from the restart and an opportunist drop goal by openside flanker Ken McCartney, stretched the lead further.

Grenville started to chase the game and scored their first try through centre Matt Slee, which he was unable to convert.

A tense final five minutes saw Grenville score a second try under the posts, from a quickly taken tap penalty, which they converted to make it Shebbear 14, Grenville 12.
