TAVISTOCK Young Farmers Club held their club shearing finals on May 20 at Westcott Farm by kind permission of Mr and Mrs Bickell.

The results were as follows: Senior boys 1st Andrew F Mudge, 2nd Richard Cole; Girls 1st Kerry Lloyd, 2nd Donna Penwill; Junior boys 1st Tom Medland, 2nd Graham Cole, 3rd Phil Medland; Novice boys 1st Phil Blowey, 2nd Adrian Cole, 3rd James Toop; Best tied fleece Donna Penwill; Overall Champion Tom Medland.

The club then went on to host the South Dartmoor Group Shearing finals on May 23 at Shortburn by kind permission of Mr & Mrs Rapson. A great day was had by all, with the Tavistock club achieving successes in both the traditional and Bowen shearing classes.

Results for Tavistock were: Traditional classes: Novice boys 1st Graham Cole, 3rd Tom Medland; Senior boys 2nd Andrew F Mudge; Team 2nd Graham Cole and Andrew F Mudge; Bowen classes: Novice boys 3rd Phil Blowey, Intermediate boys Joint 3rd Martin Cole and Tom Medland; Senior boys 1st Andrew F Mudge, 3rd Richard Cole; Novice girls 1st Kerry Lloyd; Senior girls 2nd Kerry Lloyd; Team 1st Tom Medland and Richard Cole; Quickest and best 3rd Martin Cole.
