EAST Cornwall runner Sharon Daw has just conquered the UK iron man competition in 13 hours 36 minutes at the event held in Sherborne, Dorset.

The EC Harrier swam 2.4 miles in cold water in a mass start before biking 112 miles with the last 25 miles having to stop three times to pump up the back tyre because of a leaky valve. The 26.2 mile run route was challenging. Sharon said it was a great event.

It was also congratulations to her daughter Xavia who came second in the open female race at the Treggy Seven fun run.

The previous weekend mother and daughter ran as a team in the Bude lifeboat fun run — Xavia was fourth and Sharon second. In the Bath triathlon Sharon was second in her category.
