TAVISTOCK took both sides down to Newquay on Sunday, to enjoy huge success at both age groups in the annual Newquay sevens.

The tournament was run as a round robin tournament, with bonus points for four tries or more scored and a losing bonus point being introduced.

Tavistock U15s first game was against Taunton. Tavistock started slowly and relied on the pace of Dawe to put them 5-0 up and then started to move the ball around, leading to tries for Brown and a brace from Huntley to make a final score of 20-5. Tavistock's player of the match was Cowie.

Against Exeter the Tavistock team conceding an early try but hit back with a hat-trick from skipper Huntley. Stacey and Neave made a number of important tacklesin the 17-12 win. Tavistock brushed past Plymouth 27-0 with Rodgers notable for the West Devon side. Tries came Huntley, Dawe, Cowie and a brace from Brown.

Against the hosts Newquay Tavistock saw themselves 5 -0 down after seconds, but once again bounced back to a comfortable 20-5 win with Huntley, Brown and Neave being in the points. Again Upcott and Stacey were strong for Tavistock.

Tavistock won the tournament with a positive points difference of 62 and 19 out of a possible 20 league points.

The Girls' U18s tournament was played with four teams. The first game was a thriller as Tavistock went 17-7 down, despite an Abel try. However in the second half Tavistock hit back with tries for Walke (2) Neave and Notman to make it 27-22.

Against Exeter Saracens Tavistock defended for the first half, going into the break only 5-0 down. Exeter scored a second but Abel pulled one back for a final score of 10-7. Tavistock's player of the match was McCall.

The final game saw Tavistock brush past Albion in a high scoring 34-15 win. Among the scorers Neave, McCall and Notman. This led to a second place finish.

Kirsty McCall also helped to referee the U15's tournament.
